Obligation to register with the Cyprus VAT authorities

When a business must register for VAT in Cyprus, the deadline to do so and the benefits of voluntary registration.

Published on 11 October 2024. Rates, thresholds and deadlines may have changed since then (including under the 2026 tax reform). Please contact us for the current position.

A business is obliged to register with the Cyprus VAT authorities when its taxable turnover exceeds, or is expected to exceed, €15,600 within a 12-month period. Once the threshold is reached, the business must register for VAT within 30 days.

Registration can also be voluntary, even if the above criteria are not met. This allows a business to reclaim VAT on its expenses and to operate in a more professional manner.

ACLA Auditors can provide further information, register your business with the VAT authorities and handle the preparation and submission of your VAT returns.
